Asunción, IP Agency.- The candidate of the National Republican Association (Colorado Party), Santiago Peña, was elected this Sunday as the next president of the Republic of Paraguay, for the period 2023-2028.
With 96% of the results processed, Peña and his presidential duo, Pedro Aliana, had consolidated 42.83% of the votes cast this Sunday, thus ensuring their electoral victory to lead the next Executive.
About four hours following the closure of the polling places, the president-elect addressed a message thanking the Paraguayans and Paraguayans who placed their trust in him.
In his speech, he stated that this is the victory of a people who with their vote chose the path of social peace, dialogue and national reconciliation, “a people who sent a clear message that grievances and hatred are not the path ».
He affirmed that beyond the party colors we are sons and daughters of a common mother, the Paraguayan Homeland, which demands the best of each one. “Only in this way can we successfully confront poverty, corruption and impunity.”
«From tomorrow we will begin to design the Paraguay that we all want, without gross inequalities or unfair social asymmetries. We have a lot to do,” he said.
Finally, he called for unity and consensus “to achieve our destiny of collective well-being and prosperity without exclusions.”
“The time has come to postpone our differences to prioritize the common causes that unite us as a Nation. First and foremost we are Paraguayans, that has to be the only hallmark that identifies us as protagonists of this great project of moral restoration, economic recovery, inclusive growth and social justice,” he concluded.
