Sannio Valley and Lilis, free software mission – Il Mattino

«Sannio Valley» e Lilis (Laboratory for free information technology in Sannita) sign a partnership to promote the development of the territory in terms of digital culture and free software. The Lilis association was born in 2011 from the commitment of a group of Campania activists passionate about culture, freedom and information technology, very active in the area in the field of digital cultural promotion, the heart of the activities of «Sannio Valley».

INSIGHTS

Lilis has non-profit purposes and has always promised to encourage the introduction of free software in society, in schools and in public administration, believing that knowledge and access to information must be free and within everyone’s reach. Free does not necessarily mean free: a free program can be used for any purpose, studied, modified and shared with others.

Lilis, through its president White Gregoryis a member of Ils (Italian Linux Society) and is in the organization and coordination group of Linux Day national and various other initiatives such as «Open Education» and the National Conference on Free Software.

Carlo Mazzonepresident of «Sannio Valley», said he was very proud of this collaboration, stating that it represents a key element of the activities of the association he presides over, now being able to count on Lilis’ decades of experience to allow a general increase in the level of digital culture of those who will be involved in the activities of the two parties signing the agreement in question.
