India beat Derbyshire by 7 wickets in the first practice match ahead of the T20 series once morest England. Batting first in the match, Derbyshire posted a manageable score of 150/8 in the allotted 20 overs, while India reached the target of 151 in just 16.4 overs. Malayalam player Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav’s excellent batting made the match easy for India.

Team India won the toss and decided to bowl first.
