RoSkating is not a joke for Sanju Harold..the medals he has collected one following the other are the answer to that. His dedication and hard work carried him hand in hand to every success. It was not easy for Sanju, who suffers from Down syndrome, to learn roller skating eight years ago.
But everything he touches today is the glow of success. One gold and one bronze in the Down Syndrome National Games held in Hyderabad, two silver medals in the Special Olympics Bharat National Championship held in Haryana, and a bronze medal in the Roller Skating Federation of India National Championship held in Bangalore.
Years ago, Sanju, who went to see Anujan Shan’s skating class, also expressed his desire to learn skating. It wasn’t easy at all, getting up from each fall with more confidence. Shaan held tighter to prevent Sanju from tripping.
‘They are like friends, Shaan will teach Sanju what he does. Avondale Sanju too is enthusiastic—mother Nexi’s words are full of love. Sanju will go to practice every day at the Maharaja Club under the guidance of coach KS Sudhir.
Vashi is training with his brother. Sanju studies in Kakkanad Snehanilayam Special School. 22-year-old Sanju is also keen on art competitions. He is at the forefront of all school events. Whether it’s a bant or a chenda, Sanju will step up for anything—proud of her mother’s words.
Dancing and acting are equally Sanju’s favorite fields. Sanju also acted in the film Annu Centum Selina, which is regarding to release next month. The movie is directed by Jackson Anthony. Sanju is also active on social media. He is busy with dancing and reels.
Even if he takes off his skating shoes, he will dance if he hears the song. Father Harold Paul is also at the forefront to encourage and participate in all the competitions of his differently-abled son. Nexi said, ‘Competitions for the differently-abled are becoming active now. Before that, Sanju was regularly participating in competitions. Even though he didn’t get any gold, he was very happy to be participating’.
