Asuncion, IP Agency.- The sewage works and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, register an overall progress of 73% and 80% in the cities of Tobatí and Caacupé, respectively.

These improvements are financed by a donation from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and local counterpart funds.

In the capital of the department of Cordillera, works will be built that include a Wastewater Treatment Plant, the upgrading of 35 kilometers of the existing sanitary network, 2,800 home connections, pumping stations and pumping lines that will benefit more than 15,000 people.

Pablo Adorno, from the Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hydraulic Works Projects Coordination, reported that in Tobatí the work is currently focused on deep excavation of the basic network, carried out with all necessary safety measures.

In Caacupé, 2,000 of the 2,800 planned home connections were also made, as well as the resurfacing of the streets that were worked on.

These projects, together with those recently completed in the cities of Horqueta, in Concepción and San Juan Bautista, Misiones, make up a group of four cities in the Eastern region that will have new sanitation infrastructure to improve the quality of life of thousands of compatriots.
