Indian tennis star Sania Mirza retires. Sania Mirza has announced that she will retire following this season’s matches. The retirement was announced following the first round defeat in the women’s doubles at the 2022 Australian Open.
‘I’m decided this will be my last season. The effort is to evaluate the performance on a weekly basis and move forward. I’m not sure if I can play the whole season. I want to play ‘- Sania clarified following the match. Father Imran Mirza has confirmed to ESPN that this will be Sania’s last season.
Thirty-five-year-old Sania is also a former world number one in women’s doubles. The best achievement is to be ranked 27th in singles. Sania is currently ranked 68th
Sania, who left the tennis court following 2016 to spend time with her family, returned to the competition in 2020. She is the first Indian to win the Wimbledon title. Sania has won the Khel Ratna and Arjuna Awards. She is married to Pakistani cricketer Shuhaib Malik.
