Sánchez gets up from the European summit and forces a recess in the energy debate

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchezforced this Friday a recess in the meeting of the European Council that debate agree on some measure in energy matters, following showing his anger forr summit leaks in which he is accused of being willing to veto its conclusions.

EU leaders discussed during the day the possibility of adopt some solutionss to try to stop price increase of energy. Sánchez has been calling for these joint solutions for months, but following verifying that no common agreement possible to be applied immediately, has demanded that specific measures be allowed to be applied in the Iberian Peninsula, since Spain and Portugal are what are described as an “energy island”.

In the midst of the debate, which is being “intense” according to Spanish sources, the president of the Government read a tweet from a France 24 journalist accusing him of being ready to veto the summit’s conclusions if his demand for control prices.

He expressed his complaint regarding the fact that there are leaks and got up from the table, which led to the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, to announce a technical break of the meeting.

Spanish sources claim that Sánchez is participating with “constructive” mood, “he has not vetoed anything” and “copper is being beaten” in defense of his proposal since he considers that the summit cannot end without there being any solution. After the break, european leaders They have returned to the meeting room, and, according to community sources, they are “very actively” meditating on the new text.
