Firefighters managed to control the code 3 fire that occurred this Monday in a building on Lima Street, in the San Miguel district, where hardware items and flammable products were stored.
A citizen and four firefighters were injured, so they were evacuated to different hospitals to receive the corresponding medical attention.
Juan Carlos Morales Carpio, general commander of the fire department, indicated that three of his colleagues were treated for heat stroke and another for burns to the lower extremities.
He explained that the damaged premises, although it had a license to operate as a hardware store, “more looked like storage and we found flammable products.” He said that propane gas and cylinder explosions were also generated.
In statements to TV Perú, the commander of the firefighters said that men in red are already inside the affected building to try to control the fire in its entirety.

RPP indicates that the fire would take place in a warehouse of chemical supplies and cleaning products. One person has been injured, according to Carlos Tineo, citizen security manager of San Miguel.
Firefighters are already on the scene attending to the emergency. Meanwhile, police officers also arrived at the accident area to control order and facilitate the work of fire personnel.
The families living in the homes surrounding the damaged property have been evacuated for safety reasons.
