Today, Sunday, October 22, a new electoral event is being held in the country, an opportunity in which Argentines will democratically decide who will be their new president and vice president of the Nation and provincial deputies and senators.
Along these lines, the people of San Juan go to the polls today to elect national deputies, senators and president.
For his part, the governor of San Juan, Sergio Uñac, arrived following the 11th hour at the Froilán Ferrero School, located in Villa Aberastain, Pocito, to cast his vote.
In that place, the president advocated for an election day in which the people of San Juan go to the polls to honor the 40 years of uninterrupted democracy in the country.
“I am happy to be able to cast the vote hoping that we will have a high participation, because beyond the problems, democracy is strengthened by the exercise of the vote, that is why we call on everyone to cast it,” Uñac told the press as soon as he arrived at the school gate.
He also said that at that time there had been the highest attendance in the interior than in Greater San Juan. “We foresee that there will be an important participation. The time has come to elect a president, I don’t know if there will be a runoff, it is not the time to analyze it, but there will be more participation than in the PASO.”
Continuing, the governor highlighted that San Juan has shown effective management over the last two decades. “You may or may not like a management model, but this is a province that has grown, I cannot go into more detail regarding the ban, but it has been a more effective province than others.”
“Democracy is the system, there is no other. Surely it must be perfected, we must be more effective, those of us who have the possibility of defining the destiny of many. But it shows that in 40 years there were achievements and debts of democracy with society. We lack more attachment to rights, but I always want to see half the glass full, I have always been optimistic even with realities that have not been related to what I wanted, however, I never lost optimism and with that optimism I call on everyone to vote to be defined by whoever they want so that the people of San Juan have representatives in the National Congress and that all Argentines have a president who sets a new course for the country,” said the governor.
The president announced that the vote count would be quick and at 9 p.m. there should be provisional results.
Finally, he put his vote in the ballot box at table 1413.
Security in the conduct of the elections
With a total of 608,535 qualified voters, the elections will take place in 1,810 tables distributed in 237 schools throughout the province.
To guarantee the normal development of the election, the Secretary of State for Security, together with the Electoral Court and the San Juan Police, launched an important strategic prevention and security device in the provincial elections.
