The San José Foundation’s under-14 and under-16 soccer teams won the opening tournament of the Eastern League, Paria 2024 axis, in exciting matches that took place last Saturday, August 24, at the Marine Infantry soccer field, in Carúpano, Sucre state.
The championship began on March 16 and was organized by the Sucre State Football Association (AFES) of the Paria axis.
The U14 team managed to reach the final undefeated with 31 goals for and 2 against in the group stage, and then finished off with 4 goals for and 1 against in the final match against Academia El Tigre, which earned them the victory.
For its part, the under-16 category, in its match against Atlético Guayacán, ended with a score of 2-0, thanks to goals from Rodrigo Bravo and Sergio Salazar.
Performance
The under-14 players Edwing Díaz, goalkeeper who only conceded 2 goals in the 9 games played, stood out in their participation during the championship; the midfielder Germán López, who scored 7 goals; the defender Jesús Ugas, who scored 4 goals from free kicks and the forward Miguel Marín, who scored 9 times.
In the under 16 category, the athletes Nell Castillo stood out, who only conceded 4 goals thanks to her skill in goal; the center Sergio Salazar, who scored 3 free kicks, and the forward Rodrigo Bravo with 9 goals, among others.
Some of the athletes are eligible to be part of the Sucre state team, with a view to the national selection and closing tournaments of the Paria 2024 axis.
