San Jose Earthquakes score and eliminate Necaxa from the Leagues Cup 2024 | TUDN Leagues Cup

From the start of the game, the MLS team took control of the ball and quickly took the lead through Jackson Yueill, who fired a left-footed shot that beat goalkeeper Ezequiel Unsain in the fourth minute.

Necaxa did not react and in the 17th minute the second goal for San Jose was scored by Hernán López who broke the Necaxa goal with another shot from outside the area.

Half an hour into the game, Jeremy Ebobisse appeared to score the third for the Quakes with a great left-footed shot that Unsain was unable to stop and six minutes later the forward made his presence felt again with another great goal after a collective play.

Faced with Necaxa’s lack of response, Alán Montes lost his head and left the Rayos with one less man after a clash with goalkeeper William Yarbrough that caused a small scuffle just before halftime.

In the second half, the pace of the game dropped in intensity, but Necaxa tried to score the discount goal against a San Jose Earthquakes that dedicated itself to having the ball at its feet.

Half an hour into the game, the MLS team’s coach took his players off the field to give them a rest and prevent any type of injury.

At 71′, San Jose forgave Necaxa by missing the fifth goal in four clear scoring opportunities where Ezequiel Unsain was key to prevent the MLS team from scoring, but with three minutes left in the match Paul Marie took advantage of a gift from the defense to put the final score at 5-0 over the Rayos.

Now San Jose Earthquakes will face Los Angeles FC in the Round of 16 of the Leagues Cup
