Los Angeles (USA), June 5 (EFE).- The Portland Thorns and the San Diego Wave stormed the leadership of the NWSL, the professional women’s soccer league in the United States, this week.

The San Diego team achieved a great 0-1 victory on Sunday at the field of NJ/NY Gotham FC, which thus lost the first position in the standings.

Makenzy Doniak, with a clever unmarking into the hole, scored the goal for the Wave.

For their part, the Portland Thorns also shone at home and beat the OL Reign 0-2 on Saturday.

Sophia Smith with a low shot from outside the box and Christine Sinclair capping off a ‘death pass’ scored for the Thorns.

The tenth day of the NWSL ended this Monday in an exceptional way since Angel City might not play this weekend in their field because Los Angeles FC (LAFC), with whom they share the BMO Stadium, played this Sunday the return of the final of the Concacaf Champions League (the trophy ultimately went to León from Mexico).

The change of day did not sit well with the Los Angeles team, which fell 1-2 once morest the Chicago Red Stars with a double from Ava Cook.

Only two teams managed to get the three points this day in their field: the Houston Dash, 2-0 once morest the Orlando Pride; and the KC Current, 1-0 once morest the North Carolina Courage.

Finally, the Washington Spirit tied 1-1 once morest Racing Louisville.
