DENVER — Gary Sánchez homered twice and drove in four runs, Juan Soto hit his third home run in as many days and the San Diego Padres routed the Colorado Rockies 11-1 Wednesday night.
Sanchez got two of his three hits during San Diego’s seven-run ninth inning.
Ha-Seong Kim homered in the first inning and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a monumental three-run homer to help the new-look Padres to their fifth victory in six games.
San Diego traded for five players before Tuesday, when the deadline expired. Seeks to advance to the playoffs for the last two months of the campaign.
The Padres had three of their new uniformed players on Wednesday — Ji Man Choi, Garrett Cooper and Scott Barlow, who relieved Ray Kerr (1-1) in the sixth inning and struck out three in 1 2-3 innings.
Kim made it 1-0 with his fourth leadoff homer off starter Kyle Freland (4-12). Soto, who hit two homers Tuesday, hit a 449-footer in the third inning to make it 3-0.
For the Padres, the Dominicans Fernando Tatis Jr. 4-1 with one run scored and three RBIs, Soto 5-2 with one run scored and two RBIs, Manny Machado 4-1 with one run scored, Sánchez 5-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
For the Rockies, Venezuelan Ezequiel Tovar d3 3-0 with a run scored, Dominican Elehuris Montero 3-0 with an RBI.
