Four people died in road accidents, this is the balance of the first weekend of fairs in San Cristóbal. Three of the victims died in motorcycle accidents and most of them came from events at the Fair Complex.

The first of the road events that recorded a death this weekend occurred on Saturday, January 13, when a vehicle with plates from Norte de Santander, Colombia, collided with a motorcycle that was traveling on the Antonio José de Sucre highway, causing that its driver was ejected and crashed into the pavement.

The victim in this case was a 17-year-old teenager identified as J. Chacón, who had just bought his motorcycle with the help of a brother who is abroad. The accident is under investigation.

That Saturday night, a 54-year-old man was hit by a vehicle on the main avenue of Las Pilas, San Cristóbal municipality. Alexander Adranza was hit by the vehicle which, following throwing him once morest the pavement, fled. Civil Protection officials arrived at the scene, but the man was already without vital signs.

The third tragic event occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 14, when the young Diego Colmenares, 20 years old, left the Fair Complex with his companion on his motorcycle. When they were moving through the Quinimari junction, he lost control of his vehicle and they fell, hitting the pavement hard.

Diego was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered severe head trauma that caused his immediate death. His companion suffered serious injuries that warranted his transfer to the San Cristóbal Central Hospital.

Late Sunday night, a new accident occurred in the upper part of the city. A man and his nephew left the Fair Complex on their motorcycle, and ran over a woman in the vicinity of España Avenue, which caused them to lose control of the vehicle and suffer a fall.

The fall caused the griller, a man of approximately 35 years old, to hit the sidewalk and suffer severe head trauma that caused his death instantly. The woman who was run over was taken to the San Cristóbal Central Hospital, where she is recovering from her injuries.
