San Andrés orders a curfew due to the imminent impact of a tropical storm

The monitoring of the meteorological authority indicates that the tropical storm has a high probability (90%) of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours, which might generate strong winds and intense precipitation in La Guajira, Magdalena, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre and Córdoba, and even in the archipelago of San Andrés Providencia and Santa Catalina, where the natural phenomenon seems to be heading.

“At this time, the probability of proximity of the center of the system to the archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia continues to decrease, especially to the island of San Andrés. The possibility of a tropical storm is not ruled out. However, the alarm remains and we will continue to monitor and report any possible changes,” Ideam reported on Thursday followingnoon.

For this Thursday night and early Friday morning, the entity indicated that winds are expected at intensities close to 65 kilometers per hour, that is, winds with tropical storm force.

This Thursday, the government of the Archipelago department adopted some preventive measures once morest the threat posed by Tropical Storm Two on the island, where they are still recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Iota two years ago, especially in Providencia.

The department decreed a curfew prohibiting the movement and circulation of people for almost the entire day of this Friday, July 1, specifically from 00:00 to 6:00 in the followingnoon.
