Despite his rich and long career, Samuel L. Jackson has never received an Oscar for one of his roles. Not enough to frustrate the actor who prefers to shoot in films that make him happy.
For many, it is a great heresy as the actor’s talent is extraordinary. Apart from an honorary Oscar awarded in 2022 for all of his work, Samuel L. Jackson has never received a statuette for a specific role. He was only nominated in the category “best supporting role” in 1995 for his portrayal of Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fictiona mythical character who declaims a biblical text before suppressing his victims.
Even so, Jackson no longer feels frustration for these statuettes that have escaped him, as he explains in the columns of the Los Angeles Times. “I’m not going to let the Academy judge whether my career is successful or not. My criterion of success is my happiness: am I satisfied with what I do? » emphasizes the actor. And to specify that he does not choose calibrated roles to offer him statuettes.

Oscars: Samuel L. Jackson is no longer frustrated
” No thanks. I prefer playing Nick Fury. Or have fun playing Mace Windu with a lightsaber in hand”, assures Samuel L. Jackson who had also demanded a purple lightsaber at the time of the Star Wars prelogy. Abandoning potentially Oscar-winning roles, the actor stresses that he prefers to participate in films “that people want to see”. He particularly appreciates the fact that his replicas remain in posterity, some being even “printed on t-shirts”.
“There are actors who spend their entire career without anyone being able to quote the least of their lines”, he concludes. As a reminder, Jackson was recently in the cast of the film The Protected, directed by Martin Campbell, where he played the role of Moody Dutton.
