Samuel L. Jackson is far from done with Nick Fury

Samuel L.Jackson has just announced his participation in another MCU film. He is not ready to say goodbye.

Figurehead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008, Nick Fury was never entitled to a solo adventure on the big screen. Camped by Samuel L. Jackson, the character nevertheless plays a central role in a good part of the films of the franchise, even since the SHIELD, of which he was the director, was dismantled in Captain America : Winter Soldier.

Thus, we might find him in the role of Captain Marvel’s “sidekick” in the first part of his adventures. He will be back for the following: The Marvels with Brie Larson, Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris. In parallel, Disney + is preparing to dedicate a series named following him Secret Invasion. True to his principles, the character will thus fight the Skrull invasion which is preparing on Earth.

As a reminder, the post-credits scene of Far From Home taught us that Nick Fury was not on Earth at the time of the confrontation between Mysterio and Peter Parker. To replace him, he called on a Skrull he knows very well: Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).

Still many projects on fire

While Marvel is gently pushing the pioneers of its universe towards the sequel, like Robert Downey Jr or Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson seems to still have things to tell regarding his protagonist.

During an intervention in the podcast Happy Sad Confused, the actor confided in the various projects in which he is involved. If we already knew Captain Marvel 2 and Secret Invasionhe announces half-word to be in the casting of another production of phase 4: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

“When I was in London filming for Ant-Man, The Marvels was going on and we were preparing to do Secret Invasion. So it was as if three films were taking place on the same ground. I was kind of running from place to place.”

9 films on the program?

It will obviously not be the last appearance of Samuel L. Jackson in the MCU. The actor also announced the delirious number of films for which he was invited.

“It’s a bit strange when you’re told you have a contract for nine films. You wonder how long you’ll stay alive to be able to make nine feature films. Because we are used to movies taking time. It always does, but people do two or three at a time. In the Marvel Universe…that’s crazy!”

It remains to be seen when and where we will find the man with the eye patch. At 73, Samuel L. Jackson is far from having said his last word. In any case, meet February 15, 2023 for The Marvelsdirected by Nia DaCosta. Secret Invasion for its part, has not yet found a release date. It might nevertheless be broadcast this year, or at the beginning of 2023.
