During the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Samuel L. Jackson announced that he would be reprising his role as Nick Fury in two feature films and a Marvel series.
Iconic character of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Nick Fury should appear in two other films and a series of the studio. If Samuel L. Jackson has been present in feature films since Iron Man in 2008 and played a decisive role in the construction of the Avengers, his involvement in the latest Marvel is much less great.
Fury only made an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, portrayed his youthful character in the Captain Marvel prequel, and did not appear in the cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home at all. Nevertheless, the character has obviously not finished his job.
During the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Samuel L. Jackson has indeed announced that Nick Fury will be back in several projects of Phase 4 of the MCU. We know that the actor will star in the Secret Invasion series alongside Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Airing soon on Disney+, this series chronicles the adventures of a sect of Skrulls that has infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth.
Fury will also be featured in the Captain Marvel sequel, Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels (in theaters February 15, 2023). And if we are to believe the words of the actor who has played Fury for 14 years already, he should appear in the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is due for release in July 2023.
“It’s a bit strange when someone tells you that they’re going to make you a contract for 9 films. You wonder how long you’ll have to stay alive to make them. Before, it took time to make a film It’s still the case, except that today at Marvel, we shoot 2 or 3 at the same time.
When I was in London, we were shooting Ant-Man: Quantumania and Captain Marvel 2 at the same time and we were preparing to do Secret Invasion. So it was like having three Marvel movies on one lot. I was kind of running from place to place.”
The actor therefore tells us that The Marvels, Ant-Man and Secret Invasion were filmed at the same time in London studios and that he signed a contract to appear in 9 Marvel projects.
Samuel L. Jackson is therefore not finished with his role as boss of SHIELD. Whether it’s simple cameos or more substantial roles, the American actor will therefore be present in the films of Phase 4.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope (Evangeline Lilly) face Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), a very powerful supervillain from another planet, capable to time travel and double up in the multiverse.
This character is already teased as the new Thanos, the next great antagonist of the Marvel universe. Logical therefore that Nick Fury comes to get involved.
In the meantime, the Marvel film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by Sam Raimi, will be released in our dark rooms on May 4, 2022.
