The president of the Cameroon Federation Samuel Eto’o, has seen his past catch up with him. As announced by Marca, the man with 130 goals in the colors of FC Barcelona has officially been recognized by the Spanish courts as the father of a 22-year-old girl.
This judgment follows a complaint filed by Adileusa, the mother of Erika Do Rosario Nieves. She claims to have had a relationship with the former player in the late 1990s when the indomitable lion was playing at Leganés. According to the complainant, it was in a nightclub in Madrid that she and the former international would have met through a mutual friend.
A year later, the woman discovers that she is pregnant, and says she has “ tried to communicate with the future father, but he would not answer his phone calls or his e-mails”.
Erika Do Rosario Nieves was born in 1999 in a hospital in Madrid. Samuel Eto’o who was playing at Espanyol Barcelona at the time, refused to acknowledge the child. But today, the case resurfaces with force. The mother of the child provided the judges with biological documents attesting to the relationship between the brand new president of the Cameroonian football federation and her daughter. La Marca specifies that the player, who did not appear at the trial, is sentenced by the Spanish justice to pay his daughter a monthly pension of 1,400 euros, retroactive since the filing of the complaint.
