The waterdrop hinge takes a method in which the display is rolled into the hinge in the form of a waterdrop. The advantage is that wrinkles are significantly reduced and the thickness of the foldable phone is thin because the folds of the display are in contact.
Samsunghas a waterdrop hinge-related patent, but has been insisting on a U-shaped ‘hideaway hinge’ for foldable phones because of the disadvantage of being vulnerable to water and dustproofing. Chinese companies such as Oppo, Honor, and Xiaomi SamsungPrior to this, the foldable phone was equipped with a waterdrop hinge, but it is known that this problem could not be overcome.
The water drop hinge that will be applied to the Galaxy Zfold5 and Zflip5 is expected to have waterproof and dustproof functions. It is an analysis that the new water drop hinge differentiated from the Chinese foldouble phone and technology will be the biggest weapon of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.

Galaxy Zfold5 · Zflip5 seems to take off the veil this July at the earliest. Samsungreleased a new foldable phone in August every year, but this year, it is expected to advance the release date by about a month. According to Canalys, a global market research firm, global foldable phone shipments last year recorded 14.2 million units. Samsungaccounted for more than 80% of the market share with shipments of nearly 12 million units. It is estimated that foldable phone shipments this year will more than double from last year to about 30 million units.
