A few days before CES 2023 in Las Vegas, Samsung has just presented two new laptops running on a Qualcomm processor.
We told you regarding it a little while ago, Qualcomm focuses on ARM chips for laptops, in order to catch up with Apple and its M1 or M2 chips. The Oryon chip hasn’t arrived yet, but Samsung has just launched two machines running ARM processors from Qualcomm. It is for Samsung the second generation of portable PC designed in collaboration with Qualcomm.
Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360: up to 35 hours of battery life
Samsung unveiled the Intel-powered Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 in February 2022. At the end of the year, Samsung came to present a new version of its machine, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset.
Compared to the Intel version of the Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360, only the chip changes: its main advantage is to allow a considerable gain in autonomy. Indeed, Samsung announces up to 35 hours of video playback on a single charge while the Intel model peaks at 21 hours. The computer is ultra-portable with a weight of only 1.04 kg and 11.5 mm thick. The 13.3-inch AMOLED display can rotate 360° so it can be used as a tablet, for taking notes with the included S Pen stylus.
The ARM-powered Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 has been unveiled in South Korea and will be launched on January 16 at a price of 1.89 million KRW, or the equivalent of 1400 euros.
Galaxy Book2 Go: a more traditional alternative
The Galaxy Book 2 Go is positioned as a more classic alternative, but also more affordable. It features a 14-inch IPS LCD screen in Full HD definition, in a 15.5 mm thick chassis and weighs 1.44 kg.
It also features a processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3. A little less efficient than the 8cx Gen 3 of the Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360, it guarantees solid performance for office automation or content consumption. It also benefits from good autonomy: Samsung announces up to 21 hours of video on a single charge.
The Galaxy Book 2 GB will be marketed in France exclusively on the Samsung site from January 20, 2023.
