During the SamsungSamsung conference, due to leaks, there were really no secrets left on the new product line during their presentation on Wednesday July 26th. Still, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 foldable smartphones remained the stars of the event. When folded, the external screen of the Z Flip 5 is wider with a diagonal of 3.4 inches for a definition of 720 x 478 pixels. This screen provides access to many features, such as editing messages.
Once unfolded, a 6.7-inch screen is available. It has a refresh rate of 120HzHz. For its part, the Z Fold 5, which opens like a book, has a 6.2-inch external screen. Once opened, it reveals a 7.6-inch screen (QXGA+ definition). Both screens are refreshed at 120 Hz. But the great novelty of these foldable models is a new generation of hinges.
Once the smartphone is folded, the space between the two parts of the mobile is non-existent. To achieve this result, the screen retracts and rounds to avoid marking the characteristic fold of the old models which ended up degrading the display. For both smartphones, the machinery is identical. We thus find a SoCSoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 made to measure by Qualcomm. It is supported by 8 GB of RAM.
A watch that enlarges its screen
On the photo side, the Z Flip 5 is equipped with a main sensor and a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The Z Fold 5 goes much further with its 50-megapixel main sensor. It also has a 12 megapixel wide angle. A 10-megapixel 3x magnifying optical zoom is also present. Both mobiles will be marketed from August 11th. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will cost $1,199 with 256GB of storage. The Z Fold 5 will be sold for 1,899 euros.
In addition to these two mobiles, the brand also presented its Galaxy Watch 6 connected watch. The watch refines its borders to enlarge the dial which also gains in brightness. It also has more autonomy than the previous model. The entry ticket for this Galaxy Watch is set at 319 euros. You have to add 50 euros to have an integrated 4G modem.
It is possible to opt for a case of 4 millimeters more (44 millimeters) for 349 euros. A Galaxy Watch 6 Classic version with a rotating bezel is also available, it costs 100 euros more than the standard model standard model. Finally, Samsung introduced its new line of tablets with the Galaxy Tab S9 (11-inch, $799), S9+ (12.4-inch, $999), and S9 Ultra (14.6-inch, $1,199). They now all have an AMOLED screen.

At the end of July, Samsung organizes its second meeting of the year to unveil its second round of new products. The event dubbed Unpacked will be held in Seoul, South Korea. The only concern is that at Samsung the secrecy around the products in question is difficult to maintain. Images of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 foldable smartphones that were intended for the company’s marketing department have already been released individually. Today, other promotional images of all the new products have been unveiled. As often, it’s the TwitterTwitter account @evleaks who posted these photos first, before they were taken down at Samsung’s request. The firm has since been hunting for these images on social networks. They showed the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and its large screen, the large Tab S9 Ultra tablet with its S Pen, and the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 with its Classic version equipped with a crown.
Exit the surprise effect!
In the end, these last images do not really bring much since other graphic renderings had already leaked. On the other hand, we now know that all of these products will be unveiled next month. As for the characteristics, according to the latest rumors, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra tablet will be equipped with an Amoled screen with a definition of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. Its diagonal would be 14.6 inches. The device would be powered by a chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 accompanied by 16 GB of RAM. To power it, Samsung would have opted for an 11,200 mAh battery (45 W fast charge). The tablet will be the brand’s first to be IP68 waterproof. For their part, the Fold 5 and Flip 5 foldables should also be equipped with the same processor as this tablet. We also know that their hinge would have been improved in order to lighten and thin the phone. On the images already released, we can also see that the Flip 5 has a large screen when folded.
