Samsung’s history

Samsung’s history began in March 1, 1938when it was founded by Lee Byung-chulin the city of Daegu, in South Korea. Initially, the company was a small exporter of agricultural products to China, such as dried fruits, fish and vegetables. In 1947, Samsung expanded into other areas such as sugar and fabric production.

It was in 1969 that everything changed for the company, when Samsung Electronics was founded as a subsidiary of the Samsung Group, and started producing televisions on a large scale. From there, the South Korean company started producing electronic calculators in the 1970s, and pioneered the production of cell phones from the 1980s onwards.

Since then, Samsung has expanded into several sectors, including semiconductors, displays, telecommunications, home appliances, robotics and artificial intelligence. 1993: A new logo appears with a more elegant and modern design. The new logo featured the word “Samsung” written in lowercase letters, in a blue oval.

2016: The latest update to the Samsung identity so far, with a flatter, more minimalist design. The new logo features the word “Samsung” written in capital letters, in a cleaner, more modern typeface and abandoning the blue oval background.

What was Samsung’s first cell phone?

The first cell phone produced by Samsung was the SH-100, released in 1988. The SH-100 was an analog mobile phone that weighed 1.1 kg and had a battery that lasted regarding an hour and a half of conversation. The handset was quite expensive and only available to a limited audience, but it marked the beginning of Samsung’s journey into the mobile phone market.
