Samsung sets a new standard with four generations of operating system updates to ensure the most up-to-date and secure Galaxy experience

Enjoy your Galaxy longer with One UI and Android OS updates

Samsung announces that some Galaxy devices now get four generations of One UI and Android OS updates. This gives millions of Galaxy users around the world access to optimal security, productivity and ease of use.

This improved standard builds on Samsung’s previous promise to provide up to three generations of upgrades. To begin with, the updates will be available on the latest smartphones of the Galaxy S, Z and A series, as well as on the latest tablets, Samsung plans to extend this effort to its various product lines within the Galaxy ecosystem. Samsung is also providing up to four years of updates for One UI Watch and Wear OS Powered by Samsung, so users can enjoy the latest Galaxy Watch experiences.

In addition to offering extended One UI updates, Samsung will now provide up to five years of security updates to protect its latest devices. Once connected to the Samsung Knox security platform, the devices are optimally protected once morest potential threats. In addition, Samsung Galaxy Enterprise Edition customers will receive a one-year license for Samsung Knox Suite solutions to easily deploy and manage devices with access to a dashboard that tracks security updates.

Eligible Galaxy devices with four generations of One UI and five years of security updates1 are the following :

  • Galaxy S Series : Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra as well as the Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S21 FE and the next devices of the S series
  • Galaxy Z Series : Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3 the next devices of the Z series
  • Galaxy A Series : some upcoming A-series devices
  • Galaxy Tablets : Galaxy TabS8, S8+, S8 Ultra and the next devices of the Tab S series

Eligible Galaxy devices with up to four years of One UI Watch and Wear OS Powered by Samsung warranty2 are the following :

  • Galaxy Watch : Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch4 Classic and the next devices in the Galaxy Watch series

Samsung believes it is important to provide Galaxy users with the latest possible mobile experiences. Galaxy devices that do not have the required hardware specifications to benefit from four generations of One UI upgrades can still support up to three generations of One UI upgrades.
