Founded in 1985 as the IT and logistics arm of the Samsung Group, Samsung SDS currently operates in 36 countries, with service scale in 327 locations worldwide, offering services that cover all areas of logistics, including international transport, customs clearance and domestic transport.
The company provides advanced international logistics services through its integrated digital platform, Cello Square. The platform brings together all import and export logistics steps in a single operating system, which has features such as faster online quotes, real-time visibility of shipments with online document management and easier cargo tracking.
Another feature at Cello Square is the management of carbon emissions, guarantees Rosa Amador, commercial director at Samsung SDS. She states that the organization’s main goal is to achieve zero carbon emissions in all of its operations by 2030. “In this sense, Samsung SDS decided to offer carbon emissions management functionality to its customers as well,” she says.
The commercial director of Samsung SDS explains that, with growing global concern regarding climate change, companies are increasingly responsible for assessing the environmental impact of their operations. “One of the tangible goals of good ESG practices [Environmental, Social and Governance] is the reduction of carbon emissions. Therefore, a tool that calculates these emissions in operations can help companies”, says Rosa Amador.
Cello Square makes monthly estimates and reports of carbon emissions possible at the time the customer makes the quote, using as a calculation basis the volume of cargo and the distance between origin and destination, using the parameters of the internationally certified solution (EcoTransIT ).
“International transport is responsible for a large portion of carbon emissions, so it is important that corporations evaluate their emissions and seek to adopt practices that reduce their impact on the environment”, concludes Rosa Amador.
