Samsung may start a chip production line with its new 2 nanometer lithography in Q1 2025according to information released by BusinessKorea. The acceleration of the company’s schedule occurs amid the rapid advance of competition towards manufacturing hardware with new processes.
It is reported that the South Korean giant is planning to manufacture around 7 thousand wafers — that is, the sheets of semiconductor materials on which the chips are “printed” — per month with 2-nanometer lithography at its factory in Hwaseong, South Korea.
From the second quarter of next year, the company will also plans to install a 1.4 nanometer production line at one of its factories in Pyeongtaekwith a capacity of 2 thousand to 3 thousand wafers per month.
