Samsung announced some new PC monitors for CES 2023, including the 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9.
The curved screen has an aspect ratio of 32:9 and is equivalent to two UHD screens on one screen.
Samsung has not yet announced release dates or pricing for any of the new displays.
Samsung kicks off its CES 2023 announcements early today with several new computer monitors revealed. The biggest new entry is the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 PC gaming monitor. This massive 57-inch 1000R curved monitor features an 8K 7680 x 2160 resolution screen with an aspect ratio of 32:9. This means that owners will get the equivalent of two UHD screens on one screen. By contrast, the Samsung Odyssey Ark launched in 2022 was “only” 55 inches and supported “only” 4K resolution.
The small LED display on the Odyssey Neo G9 will also have a matte screen to reduce annoying light reflections while playing your favorite PC or console games. It will also have a 240Hz refresh rate for a smoother look for games that support this high rate. Finally, the monitor will get DisplayPort 2.1 support, which transfers data twice as fast compared to the older DisplayPort technology.
Samsung also announced the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9. The 1800R curved OLED display supports Quantum Dot technology to allow for better contrast and deeper blacks on screen, and also features a 32:9 aspect ratio and 240Hz refresh rate. The screen will also come with a Samsung Game Hub that supports various game streaming services, along with a series of apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and more that are included in Samsung Smart TVs.
Finally, Samsung unveiled two new 27-inch displays. ViewFinity S9 is designed for creative professionals with a 5K 5120 x 2880 resolution display in a matte finish. The previously released 32-inch M8 smart display will soon be available in a 27-inch version with four color options (daylight blue, spring green, sunset pink, or warm white). It will also support Samsung Smart TV apps and Samsung Gaming Hub.
The release dates of these screens were not disclosed, nor their prices. Given that the Samsung Odyssey Ark was priced at $3,500 when it launched, we suspect the Odyssey Neo G9 will have a similar price tag.
