Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Watch has suffered a massive loss of market share, which has caused the popularity of its smartwatches to plummet. While Huawei and Apple have seen considerable growth.

Actually, it turns out that the Apple Watch was once once more the most popular smartwatch in the third quarter of 2023. And the market as a whole grew by 8%. But here is how it all looks.

A remarkable good in the connected watch market

According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, 9% more “HLOS” connected watches were sold on the market au third quarter 2023. And this phenomenon happened all over the world between July and September. HLOS stands for High Level Operating System.

This term refers to smartwatches that support third-party applications. Simple fitness trackers or cheap smartwatches are not considered.

Apple, big leader in the smartwatch market

These figures show that the connected watches are increasingly appreciated by many consumers. But where we notice purchasing differencesIt is at the brand level. Some are more popular than others. And among these, it goes without saying that Apple always stands out from the crowd. From 2022 to 2023, the American company’s market shares remained the same. But this attests that Apple Watches remain market leaders.

Even though the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 received relatively few updates, Apple was able to maintain its position. And like last year, claim a market share of 45% is not easy. But yet, the brand with the bitten apple successful always this challenge.

From 2022 to 2023, changes having greatly impacted the market

Compared to this, Samsung is normally expected to be behind Apple. But changes have been made in the smartwatch market, and they have shaken things up. While in 2022, the brand Amazfit had for example a market share of 7%. Huawei was able to surpass everyone and surprise, because the company acquired 14% market share.

Sales of the Samsung Galaxy Watch, fell by 19% on the other hand. This increased Samsung’s market share from 24 to 18%. Which is terrible for turnover and the image of the brand. However, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic would be extremely popular and would have increased the average selling price of a Galaxy Watch.

The dazzling success of Huawei

From now on, Huawei occupies the third place with a market share of 14%. In the third quarter of 2023, the Chinese tech giant delivered 122% more HLOS smartwatches. This is more than the figures reported for the same quarter of the previous year. And this is mainly due to the Huawei Watch 4, Watch 4 Pro and Watch GT 4.

However, the majority of this growth is attributable to Huawei’s home market, China. THE three Indian tenors, namely Fire-Boltt, boAt and Noise, also recorded solid growth. But because of their lack of international presencethey do not weigh not yet heavy enough to figure among the world market leaders.
