Samsung Life’s first Park Shin-ja Cup win in women’s basketball… MVP is Lee Hae-ran

80-51 win over Woori Bank in the final

Samsung Life Insurance, Yongin, won the women’s professional basketball championship for the first time in the Park Shin-Ja Cup Summer League.

Samsung Life defeated Asan Woori Bank 80-51 in the final of the ‘2022 KB Kookmin Bank Park Shin-Ja Cup Summer League’ held at Cheongju Gymnasium on the 31st.

Samsung Life, which advanced to the finals two years following being runner-up in this tournament in 2020, became the first in the club’s history to become the top player in the Park Shin-ja Cup and received a prize of 10 million won.

Woori Bank, which had advanced to the finals for the first time and aimed to win the championship, had to be content with winning the runner-up with the best record in the history of the club.

As the MVP of the tournament, Lee Hae-ran of Samsung Life, who played in all four games and averaged 26 minutes 22 seconds, scored 18.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists, was selected.

He was selected as the MVP by receiving 9 out of 14 votes from the reporters’ vote and receives a prize of 2 million won.

Lee Hae-ran also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

In the final with him, Park Hye-mi recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Jo Su-ah 19 points and 8 assists, and Kang Yu-rim 15 points and 6 rebounds gave Samsung Life a victory.

Woori Bank played hard with Kim Eun-sun’s 20 points and Park Da-jeong’s 12 points and 10 rebounds, but it was not enough.

Samsung Life took the lead in the first quarter with a 27-8 lead.

In Samsung Life, Hye-mi Park and Hae-ran Lee each scored 8 points each to lead the attack, and also overtook Woori Bank with 13-3 in rebounds.

In the second quarter, Woori Bank started chasing Kim Eun-sun, but Samsung Life maintained a double-digit gap of 37-23.

Samsung Life ran away once more in the third quarter.

In the second half of the quarter, Shin Yi-seul scored four down including two free throws, followed by Park Hye-mi’s outer cannon and Kang Yu-rim’s free throws, widening the gap to 60-30.

Woori Bank, which had a hard time with the outskirts, gave strength with Kim Eun-sun and Na Yun-jeong’s 3-point shots, but Samsung Life made 65-38 with Jo Su-ah’s neat 3-point two seconds before the end of the quarter.

Samsung Life, who caught the victory early, also took the lead in the fourth quarter with a score of 15-13.

In the 3rd place match held earlier, Cheongju KB defeated Busan BNK 66-52 and climbed to 3rd place.

In KB, Seo-Yi Um scored 23 points and 16 rebounds, and Yoon-mi Lee scored 20 points and was responsible for the victory.

The Taiwanese pro team, Cathay Life, who participated in this tournament, defeated Incheon Shinhan Bank 86-67 and took fifth place.

The Park Shin-Ja Cup, established in 2015 following Park Shin-Ja, who was the runner-up in the 1967 World Championships, is a competition where non-starter players from each team mainly participate to foster promising youngsters.

This year, six teams, nine teams including the under-18 national team, college selection team, and Cathay Life competed for their skills.
