2023-11-04 06:00:00

A Samsung launched this Saturday (4) the ISOCELL GNK photographic sensor with 50 megapixel resolution and the promise of capturing images and recording videos with better quality. According to the South Korean giant, this model comes with important improvements compared to its predecessor, the ISOCELL GN1, correcting the negative points of its older “brother”.

The GNM maintains some features of the version announced last year, such as 1/1.3″ size and 1.2 micron pixel, with optimizations in other areas of the sensor. Among the new features presented in this 4th quarter of 2023 are the implementation of Dual Pixel Pro autofocus and the ability to record photos in 14-bit RAW format.

According to the manufacturer, the new sensor also allows recording videos in 8K resolution at 30 fps with little loss of elements in the field of view. AF is also supported for video, as is High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode in Full HD (FHD) mode with frame rates of up to 240 fps, as stated in the specifications.

Samsung has not announced the smartphones that will be launched with this photo sensor, so we have to wait for official information from other brands. Considering the ISOCELL GNK category, it is expected that premium intermediate models that will be announced in 2024 will feature this component at the rear.
