Samsung started sales of its new line of basic tablets in Brazil this Tuesday (21). The Galaxy Tab A9 and Tab A9 Plus, officially announced last month, arrive on the Brazilian market as more affordable options for those looking for a productivity device with lower prices than the prices charged for the Galaxy Tab S9.

Galaxy Tab A9

Successor to the Galaxy Tab A8, the brand’s new entry-level tablet has an 8.7-inch screen with LCD technology, 1,340 x 800 pixel resolution and support for a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz. Its edges are thick enough to house a 2 MP front camera. At the rear, there is a single lens with an 8 MP sensor.

Replacing the Unisoc T618, the Galaxy Tab A9 is powered by MediaTek Helio G99, a more powerful chip produced with 6 nanometer lithography that boasts a CPU of up to 2.2 GHz, in addition to a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. There is a single memory configuration that combines 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage expandable via MicroSD card.

The tablet is powered by a 5,100 mAh battery. Other specs include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, dual speakers, and a USB-C port. Unfortunately, there is no support for the fifth generation of the mobile network, 5G, so the device is limited to 4G. The model will come out of the box running an unspecified version of Android.

With more advantageous specifications, the Galaxy Tab A9 Plus has 11-inch LCD screen with WUXGA resolution (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) and support for a 90 Hz refresh rate. The display has symmetrical edges that house a 5 MP front camera. At the rear, the main camera is 8 MP and supports video recording at up to Full HD @ 30 FPS.

The Galaxy Tab A9 Plus stands out for using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695, a platform that moves away from the basic segment and provides more power for complex tasks, in addition to supporting the 5G network.
