Samsung launched an internal investigation – the company suspects that the yield of good chips was inflated

Samsung Electronics intends to expand its internal investigation to find out where the funds were spent to debug chip production and increase the yield of products. The fact is that the company’s management suspects a forgery of the report on the release of microcircuits by the Samsung Semiconductor Foundry division. Information about the production of 5-, 4- and 3-nm products is now being verified, according to Infostock Daily.

A Samsung official familiar with the situation inside the company said that management is investigating claims by former and current executives of Samsung’s DS division, which includes the semiconductor business, that various enterprises are producing good chips. Senior management is trying to determine if the data provided by Samsung DS executives is false. As part of the investigation, Samsung Electronics management is trying to find out whether the investment in debugging the production of chips according to the most advanced technical processes, including 5 nm and less, was made correctly.

Cho Ho-jin, CEO of Tachyon World, says that “Samsung Electronics will use this investigation as an opportunity to strengthen the group by looking at the financial performance of the DS division and the reliability of yield data from the semiconductor division.”.

Samsung management refuses to comment on the investigation, which is ongoing within the company. Representatives of the South Korean tech giant say that internal management reviews are carried out regularly, and at the moment their schedule, content or results cannot be published.
