Samsung is bringing the fourth generation of its line of rugged business tablets to Switzerland. Like its predecessors the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro is designed for use in the field, as the South Korean technology group reports. Both the tablet and the included S-Pen are protected against dust and water (up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes) according to IP68.
According to the manufacturer, the 10.1-inch display is also particularly robust. Thanks to the built-in Gorilla Glass 5, the glass should be particularly scratch-resistant and withstand falls from a height of up to one meter – up to 1.2 meters with the case that is also included. The device also withstands high altitudes, vibrations and humidity according to the military standard MIL-STD-810H. Despite its robustness, the device only weighs 674 grams.
The tablet, powered by a 5.5 gigahertz octa-core processor, comes with 6 gigabytes of RAM and an internal device memory of 128 gigabytes. This can be expanded by up to 1 terabyte with a microSD card.

Functions for the field service
To make work outside the office easier, the sensitivity of the touch display can be increased for operation with leather gloves up to 2 millimeters thick. According to Samsung, the device can also be unlocked via face recognition.
According to the manufacturer, the tablet has a particularly high maximum volume for VoIP applications. Signal tones should remain clearly audible even in busy environments or on a construction site.
The replaceable 7600 mAh battery allows up to 16 hours of internet usage and is equipped with the Pogo quick charge function, as the manufacturer further writes. For stationary use on the power grid, the device can also be operated in the so-called “No Battery Mode” without a battery.
Availability
The Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro is available in Switzerland at a price of CHF 659 (RRP) in the Wi-Fi version and at a price of CHF 779 (RRP) in the Enterprise Edition 5G version. The S Pen and Protective Cover are included.
