Samsung has been hacked and customer data is at risk

The data of an unknown number of Samsung customers were stolen from the company’s servers at the end of Julyas announced by the company itself in an official statement.

The information extracted from each client varies in each case. Samsung ensures that the data related to Social Security or bank cards have not been affected. “We are committed to protecting the security and privacy of our customers. We have hired leading experts in cyber security and we are coordinating with the authorities,” says the company in a statement. “We will continue to work diligently to develop and implement immediate and long-term changes to further improve security across all of our systems.”

At the beginning of the year, Samsung was also the victim of a hack. Those responsible, on that occasion, were Fall, a group that also mined information from other tech companies like Nvidia. Specifically, almost 200 GB of confidential company data was extracted, including the source code of certain technologies developed by the company itself. What was not extracted, according to Samsung, was the information of its clients, which did remain safe.
