[비즈니스포스트] A simple memorial service was held for the third anniversary of the death of former Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee.
Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong returned to Korea as soon as he finished his economic mission to Saudi Arabia and attended the memorial ceremony.
On the 25th, a memorial service for the third anniversary of former Chairman Lee Kun-hee was held at the family memorial located in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.
At the 3rd anniversary memorial service for late Chairman Lee held around 11 a.m., Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, former Samsung Museum of Art Leeum Director Hong Ra-hee, Hotel Shilla President Lee Boo-jin, Samsung Welfare Foundation Chairman and Samsung Global Research Advisor Lee Seo-hyun, and International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Kim Jae-yeol were present. The president of the International Skating Federation and other bereaved family members attended.
After arriving at Seonyeong, the bereaved family stayed for regarding 10 minutes to commemorate the late Chairman Lee.
About 60 presidents of Samsung Group affiliates arrived at Seonyeong in a minibus around 10 a.m., earlier than the bereaved family members, and paid tribute to the deceased.
In attendance were Samsung Electronics DX Division Head and CEO Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee, Samsung Electronics DS Division Head and CEO Gyeong-hyun, Samsung Display CEO Choi Joo-sun, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics CEO Jang Deok-hyeon.
After the memorial service, Chairman Lee Jae-yong went to the Yongin Human Resources Development Center and had lunch with the presidents of affiliates.
Former Chairman Lee Kun-hee collapsed at his home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul in 2014 with symptoms of myocardial infarction and suffered from illness for 6 years and 5 months before passing away on October 25, 2020.
Former Chairman Lee is evaluated as a manager who created Samsung Electronics’ ‘semiconductor success story’ by investing all his personal wealth to enter the semiconductor business in 1974 in an environment that was a wasteland for semiconductors due to his outstanding management ability and competitive spirit.
