Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Leak from Korea provides detailed camera specs and causes disappointment again

That Samsung in the Galaxy S23 Ultra (here available at Amazon) does not immediately replace the newly introduced 200 megapixel ISOCELL HP2 in the successor should not surprise any fan, but the three other cameras have practically come to a standstill for years. Neither the 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor nor the 10-megapixel duo of 3x and 10x telephoto cameras, which has been recycled with minimal changes since the Galaxy S21 Ultra, has been renewed this year.

And nothing will change in 2024 either, as a current screenshot (see below) of the Chinese leaker Ice Universe suggests, which quotes “Korean sources” without naming them. If we can still find the source, an update will of course follow. According to the leak, Samsung not only sticks with the 200 megapixel ISOCELL HP2 with 0.6um pixels in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the ultra wide angle sensor is once more the same 12 megapixel IMX564 with 1.4um pixels and 1/2.55 inch size.

The situation with the two telephoto cameras is similar: In contrast to some leaks in recent months, not much has changed. The 3x portrait cam therefore remains the same once more – a 1/3.52 inch 10 megapixel Sony IMX754 with 1.12um pixels. According to the leak, the 10x periscope telephoto module changes to a slightly adapted 10 MP IMX754+. From the current perspective, neither the variable zoom optics nor the rumored 5x zoom seem to be becoming a reality, which caused a lot of displeasure on social media last week. However, it is still important to remember that there is still no evidence of the specs mentioned in the leak – as is well known, hope dies last.
