Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: colors and front camera revealed

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is now hitting the rumor mill almost daily in light of the upcoming ones revelation on February 9th. In addition to technical data, various renderings and images of official accessories have already been leaked. Thanks to the well-known tipster Evan Blass revealed today an extensive list of Galaxy S23 series accessories right down to the model numbers.

Samsung Galaxy S23 colors

The Galaxy S23+ gets a Clear View case, a black, camel, and green leather case, a black rugged case, and cream, green, lavender, navy, orange, black, and white silicone cases. The Galaxy S23 is listed with the two Clear View cases. There are also leather bags in three colors, the robust case and the silicone cover in black or white. There will also be a Smart View wallet case in black, cream, green and lavender. The Galaxy S23+ doesn’t seem to have a Smart View case.

For the Galaxy S23 Ultra there will be a Clear View case, the leather case in black, camel and green, and the rugged case in black and the silicone case in cream, green, lavender, navy blue and orange. Arguably the most important part of the list is the S Pen’s color choices, which include cream, green, lavender, and phantom black. The S Pen colors match the phone’s body, so we’re getting the Galaxy S23 Ultra in those four colors at launch.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra front camera

Since the first Galaxy S20 Ultra the top model of the S series always had a 40 megapixel selfie camera. Next year things might finally change. A new report suggests the Galaxy S23 Ultra may get a new lower-resolution sensor in February 2023.

According to previous leaks, the Galaxy S23 and S23+ are finally getting one new improved selfie camera. According to reports, the 10-megapixel sensors will be swapped for 12-megapixel cameras. And the S23 Ultra will get exactly the same 12-megapixel sensor.

At first glance this might seem like an upgrade for the S23 and S23+, but a downgrade for the Ultra. However, the number of pixels is by far not everything that decides on the camera quality. The underlying sensor is particularly important. Apart from that, it’s high time that the front cameras of Samsung’s premium series finally got autofocus.

Will the S23 Ultra be better than the iPhone 14 Pro Max?

Apple has been at the forefront of the cell phone market for years. Traditionally, Samsung is in second place, and they seem to have had enough of Apple’s long shadow. According to a report by Hankyung said the vice chairman of Samsung, Han Jong-heeat a board meeting, that one should “think regarding ways to strengthen the competitiveness of smartphones without getting caught up in cost reductions”.

What that means is clear: Samsung wants to take over the market leadership, whatever the cost. Developing a more competitive product comes first, which is a departure from the previous profit-driven strategy. It’s also believed that Jong-hee wants to align less with Chinese competition with disposable phones, inconsistent designs and features.

The new strategy is scheduled to start in 2023 and the Galaxy S23 series will be the spearhead with the currently fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 should also benefit from this new approach. The big question is how this will affect the other models such as the Galaxy A series.
