With foldable display for university and school 2 Min. read
With the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360, Samsung is launching a new notebook with Chrome OS. The convertible model with a foldable display is said to be particularly suitable for use in schools and universities. As an LTE variant, the device can also be online at all times while on the go.
With Chromebooks, the focus is primarily on the simplest and most convenient operation possible in combination with a good battery life at a reasonable price. Samsung is also trying to put together this package with the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360. This is possible with a 360-degree hinge 12.4 inch touch display with crisp sharp 2.560 x 1.600 Pixel simply fold backwards. A classic notebook then quickly becomes a tablet, with which the Chromebook can be used flexibly. Only the somewhat thick side margins might be discussed.
Under the hood works a Intel Celeron N4500 Processor from which you should not expect too much performance. However, this chip is probably more than sufficient for everyday tasks, streaming videos or taking notes at school or university. Then join them 4GB of RAM and 64 gigabytes of internal storage. Samsung leaves open what type of memory is involved here (i.e. either eMMC or SSD), allows via MicroSD-Slot however, a quick memory expansion.
The battery offers a capacity of 45.5Wh and can be quickly recharged with up to 45 watts. In addition, there are connection-side USB-Typ-C, USB 3.2 Type-A and 3.5 mm jack are available. In terms of connectivity stand Wi-Fi 6 und Bluetooth 5.1 to disposal. The Chromebook is rounded off by an HD webcam.
In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 does not have to hide from significantly more expensive notebooks. The outer shell is silver, while the inner area around the display and keyboard is black. With a Weight of 1.28 kilograms the 2-in-1 device in the backpack shouldn’t stand out too much either. In addition, the notebook is also comparatively slim at 16.9 mm.
Samsung launches the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 am 29. April 2022 on the market. It’s priced from 549 euros RRP for the standard model, with an integrated LTE modem, the notebook then costs 599 euros RRP.
Our assessment
The high-resolution, foldable display is a plus. The rather average processor and only 4 GB RAM is a bit too little for 550-600 euros. Although the Chromebook 2 360 will probably get you through everyday life without any problems and will also be a good companion in university and school, models from other manufacturers with ChromeOS, more memory and a stronger CPU are available for the same price or for an additional charge of around 50 euros receive.
