Many Bluetooth headphones contain chips and microphones for making calls or for active noise reduction. Samsung is now using this headphone technology for very special sound recordings.
Schwalbach/Taunus – Samsung turns its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro wireless Bluetooth headphones into special microphones in their user’s ears. In the future, they will also be able to record video sound on it, which should give an impression of spatial listening close to reality, as indicated by the manufacturer.
Samsung calls this feature “360° audio recording”. This is the so-called binaural recording technique. Prerequisite is a compatible smartphone. These include the Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4 as well as upcoming Galaxy devices that use the Bluetooth LE Audio standard.
Activate the recording function in the Camera app
From January 17, it should be possible to enable this feature in Samsung’s Camera app when the video mode is selected in the settings, under “Advanced video options/360° audio recording”.
In addition, Samsung announced for February an update to the remote control of the camera on the Galaxy Watch 5, Watch 5 Pro, Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic smartwatches.
Control camera zoom via bezel
On these smartwatches, it will now be possible to control the zoom of the camera of certain Galaxy smartphones via the bezel. This can, for example, help to adjust the framing of group photos or selfies taken from a distance. dpa
