How to take screenshots with Samsung Galaxy A40, A41 and A42?
As mentioned, there are two methods you can use to take screenshots on the Samsung Galaxy A40, A41 and A42.
Samsung Galaxy A40, A41 and A42: take a screenshot with buttons
As with pretty much every smartphone, it is possible to take a screenshot directly on the device with a simple key combination.
For the A40, A41 and A42, proceed as follows:
- Select what you want to take a screenshot of.
- Simultaneously press the volume down and power on/off button.
- Keep these buttons pressed until the screen lights up almost briefly.
- If you see this animation, the screenshot has been saved and you will also receive a notification.
Samsung Galaxy A40, A41 and A42: take a screenshot with a gesture
The second way to take screenshots on the A40, A41 and A42 works by gesture.
First of all, you should make sure that the function is activated in the first place:
- Opens the settings.
- Go to the menu item “Advanced functions” and there to “Movements and gestures”.
- Check the “Screenshot” option there to see if it’s enabled or not.
If the function is activated, proceed as follows to take a screenshot via gesture on the Galaxy A40, A41 or A42:
- Select what you want to take a screenshot of.
- Place your hand card on the right or left (it doesn’t matter which side) on the edge of the screen.
- Now you swipe the card in hand to the other side (from left to right or from right to left, leaving the card in hand on the screen and not lifting it.
- If you have done everything correctly, the screen will also light up briefly here, you will see a small animation and you will receive a notification regarding the saved screenshot.
Samsung Galaxy A40, A41 and A42: where are screenshots saved?
To find your screenshots, launch the Gallery app on your A40, A41, or A42. You will find the captured screenshots there alongside all the other photos, videos and so on under the “Images” tab.
Alternatively, you can switch to the “Albums” tab and find what you are looking for in the “Screenshots” folder.
You can also use the app to edit and crop your screenshots if you wish.

If the screenshot doesn’t work, it doesn’t necessarily have to be because you did something wrong.
Some apps or individual menus block the creation of screenshots when you use them. This includes streaming apps like Netflix, but also banking apps where sensitive data can be seen.
