Are you looking for an affordable smartphone to give to your child? We recommend the Samsung Galaxy A14, the Xiaomi Redmi 13C, the Honor 70 Lite, the realme C55 or the Oppo A57. But which of these is really made for him? Here are their main characteristics compared to help you make your choice.
Design is always a matter of taste and color. Among our selection of smartphones, the Oppo A57 offers a plate installed in the upper left corner. This is also the case for the Honor 70 Lite in a square format. The largest plate is installed on the back of the Xiaomi Redmi 13C. The realme C55 offers two circles with a large diameter to integrate the 2 photo sensors. The one with the cleanest back is the Samsung Galaxy A14 since these sensors look simply placed in the upper corner. They are all available in different colors that everyone can appreciate.
In terms of size, the Redmi 13C is the largest and therefore the most bulky. The most compact is the Honor 70 Lite, almost on par with the Oppo A57. The Xiaomi mobile is the thinnest of all. The heaviest is the Samsung Galaxy A14 with 201 grams against the Honor 70 Lite which is 194 grams followed by the Redmi 13C which is 192 grams then the realme c55 which is 189 grams and finally the Oppo A57 which is 187 grams.
Regarding the batteries, no jealousy since all the phones we have selected offer a capacity of 5000 mAh. This means that they a priori offer almost equivalent autonomy. Regarding charging speed, the realme C55 and the Oppo have a very slight lead over the Honor. In this price range none offer wireless charging.
Which is the most powerful and which is the best screen?
In terms of power, they are almost all equivalent. The Realme 55C has a very slight lead since it has a MediaTek Helio G88 chip associated with 6 or 8 GB of RAM with the possibility of adding as much in virtual RAM. Then there is the Redmi 13C which has a Helio G85 chipset with 4 or 8 GB of RAM with also the possibility of adding more virtually. The Samsung Galaxy A14 has, for its part, a Helio G80 processor with 4 GB and 4 GB of virtual RAM. The Honor 70 Lite smartphone has a Snapdragon 480+ chip with 4 GB of RAM and 3 GB of virtual RAM. Finally, the Oppo A57 is equipped with a Helio G35 chip with 4 GB of RAM and the possibility of adding more virtually. They all come with different storage memory capacities and can all support an additional memory card to expand the internal space.
Concerning the display surface, all the smartphones that we have selected offer an LCD type screen. The differences in size are therefore almost tiny between smartphones. They have a difference in terms of their definition since the best are the Samsung and the realme which offer a display of 1080×2400 pixels compared to 720×1600 pixels for the others. This allows the former to offer slightly better readability. Honor, Xiaomi and realme smartphones have the advantage of offering a refresh rate of 90 Hz compared to 60 Hz for the Samsung phone and the Oppo. This makes scrolling slightly smoother.
What are the configurations for taking photos and making videos and what about connectivity?
The realme C55 smartphone has the advantage of offering a 64 megapixel photo sensor as the main module on the back compared to 50 megapixels on the Redmi 13C, the Samsung Galaxy A14 and the Honor 70 lite. The only phone in our selection that has an ultra wide-angle sensor is the Samsung with a 5 megapixel module. This allows it to take extremely wide photos either for landscapes or for groups of people, for example. For other phones you have to rely on macro or depth of field modules in order to optimize portraits. The Oppo A57 smartphone is not extremely well off since it has a main sensor of only 13 megapixels with a 2 megapixel monochrome sensor to optimize the rendering of photos. To take selfies or video calls, the Samsung Galaxy A14 has the advantage of having a 13 megapixel module compared to 8 megapixels installed on the front for all the others.
In terms of connectivity, the Honor 70 lite stands out thanks to its compatibility with 5G networks while all others are limited to the 4G network. Note that there is a 5G version of the Samsung. They are all Wi-Fi 5 compatible, feature NFC technology and can accommodate 2 SIM cards. They are all equipped with a fingerprint reader which is installed at the standby button and therefore on the profile of the devices. The realme C55, Redmi 13C and Samsung Galaxy A14 phones have an audio jack port that allows you to connect headphones. At this price level unfortunately none are completely waterproof.
