Samsung Unveils New Interactive Display with Education Software Tool with Enhanced Usability and Connectivity Features
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. presented a new interactive display with updated features and a powerful software tool at Bett (British Educational Training and Technology) 2023, one of the world’s largest education technology exhibitions, in London. Bett’s 30,000+ attendees were able to explore the future of education with Samsung’s advanced interactive display and Samsung Whiteboard app.
Technology plays a critical role in today’s classroom, and the classroom of the future requires a complete set of tools to help teachers and students deepen connections and increase collaboration in a familiar and convenient way. To meet the evolving needs of educators, technology in the classroom is becoming increasingly customizable, feature-rich, and interconnected across device and operating system (OS) ecosystems. Samsung is expanding its education technology, services and support to set teachers up for success.
“Our educational technology is designed to equip educators with the tools they need to fully engage students and enrich the learning experience in any environment,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “At Bett, we are excited to showcase our interactive display solutions, demonstrating the level of advanced usability and interactivity required for the future of technology-enabled education.”
Introducing the new pen display and software that powers the classroom of the future
The new Samsung interactive display (model name: WAC) was available for Bett attendees to experience in person. Expanding offerings beyond the Flip and Flip Pro models operating on the Tizen OS operating system, the new WAC model leverages the Android operating system to provide intuitive usability. The easy-to-use screen helps teachers customize their home screen user interface (UI), share up to nine screens at a time regardless of operating system or device, and leverage smart educational apps to enrich student learning. Users can also take advantage of built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Featured in 65-, 75-, and 86-inch models[1], the WAC line was developed to integrate into any classroom environment. Its connectivity is enhanced with a 3-in-1 USB-C port, which allows hassle-free screen connection, touch control and external device charging (65W max). Additionally, the HDMI output function allows teachers to share content on a larger screen, particularly useful in classrooms.
Featuring a slim, user-friendly design, the WAC template takes into account the importance of convenience and interactivity. With IR touch infrared touch technology, users can enjoy a natural writing experience, 20 simultaneous touches and a double-ended pen to write with a different color on each end without changing the settings. The front stereo speaker, pen holder and on-screen kickstand add convenience for a perfect educational environment.
The device management solution (DMS, or Device Management System, a term for software that allows communication and control between two or more devices. In this Samsung case it is possible to control the images displayed from a remote PC through the Flip) for the WAC series allows users to remotely monitor and control the classroom display at the same time. Screen sharing can be done via HDMI video interface, via USB-C interface and via Wi-Fi. DMS also provides an alert function that sends warning messages to the screen collectively in case of emergency.
Originally available on the Samsung Flip (model name: WMB, WMA, WMR), the Samsung Whiteboard App, Samsung software for digital whiteboard application, will also be compatible with the WAC model. The software solution helps educators connect to devices running Windows OS, so that even following connecting a PC to the monitor, continuous writing over PC content can be experienced in real time, creating a classroom experience. dynamic class. Plus, it’s easy to store and share content and documents, and take notes on what’s being viewed in real time, even during a video conference.
