(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Chul-seon = Samsung Electronics[005930]announced on the 6th that it has opened an electronic voting system where shareholders can exercise their voting rights online ahead of the ’53rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders’ to be held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province on the 16th.

Shareholders can exercise their voting rights on each agenda item in advance without attending the general shareholders’ meeting through electronic voting from 9 am today to 5 pm on the 15th.

In the notice of the general meeting of shareholders, Samsung Electronics urged shareholders to exercise their voting rights using electronic voting as much as possible, saying, “Many difficulties are expected to attend the general shareholders’ meeting due to the continued COVID-19 this year.”

The real-time online broadcast of the president, which was first introduced last year due to the COVID-19 crisis, will also be implemented this year. To watch the online broadcast, you must apply in advance by the day before the shareholders’ meeting.

Samsung Electronics will take pre-questions for shareholders who will watch the online broadcast, and shareholders can watch the broadcast on the day of the shareholders’ meeting and ask questions in real time.

However, according to the current law, it is impossible to vote online while watching the online broadcast on the day of the shareholders’ meeting, and you must exercise your voting rights by electronic voting or apply for a proxy exercise in advance.

The agenda for Samsung Electronics’ shareholders’ meeting this year is to approve financial statements, appoint outside and inside directors, appoint auditors, and approve directors’ remuneration limits.
