Samsung Electronics’ labor and management confirmed each other’s positions on wage negotiations.

On the 25th, Yonhap News reported that Samsung Electronics sent an official letter to the union saying, “If the union merges the agenda proposed in the 2021 wage negotiations with the 2022 wage negotiations, the discussion will proceed smoothly. Let’s discuss the agenda together.”

Samsung Electronics has yet to start wage negotiations in 2022 due to a breakdown in wage negotiations in 2021. The core agenda for wage negotiations in 2021 that the union joint bargaining group has been demanding is ‘improving the pay system’ and ‘guaranteeing the right to rest’.

In response, the union said in a statement that it wanted to reconsider the union’s demands.

The union said, “Anyone sees it as a trick and expedient to avoid responsibility for the 2021 wage negotiations, which are in a deadlock situation.”
