Samsung is also betting on people with hearing loss by improving the ambient sound features of its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
If the noise reduction offered by certain pairs of wireless headphones can provide excellent comfort on a daily basis, more and more manufacturers are now betting on improving its corollary functionality: transparent mode.
While Sennheiser has launched wireless headphones specially dedicated to helping people with hearing loss, with its Sennheiser Conversation Clear Plus, and Apple is now pushing the hearing aid mode of its AirPods Pro, it’s Samsung’s turn to take a step in that direction. As reported by the site GSMArenathe Korean manufacturer has announced a new feature for its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro allowing you to use them to hear better around you.
Concretely, within the Galaxy Wearables application, the control of the ambient sound mode of the headphones will offer two additional levels:Previously available with three levels of customization, the updated Ambient Sound feature — enabling users to hear and stay aware of their surroundings — adds two additional levels, for a total of five levels of amplification“. According to Samsung, this two-level addition would specifically target people with mild to moderate hearing loss to help them communicate in a quiet place.
Remember that the management of transparent mode on Samsung headphones can be done individually for the left earphone and for the right earphone. Enough to allow fine management of the transparent mode, especially for people who hear better with one ear than the other.
More advanced settings for ambient mode
However, unlike some competitors, Samsung only offers an ambient sound mode and does not allow only voices to pass by reducing other noises, which is why Samsung is mainly targeting communication in quiet places. In its application, the manufacturer offers several options, such as a “adaptive ambient soundto automatically adjust the sound to the user’s hearing. Another setting also appears:ambient sound tone“. This will allow you to adjust the rendering of the transparent mode with five levels, from “soft” To “clair ».
Samsung specifies that these different features will be integrated via update to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro in “the next few weeks”.
