Samsung doesn’t have the fastest updates anymore. It was overtaken by this brand – SMARTmania.cz

  • Motorola has overtaken Samsung and is offering early adopters the chance to try Android 15
  • For now, however, only in the beta version
  • However, the list of all devices that will receive Android 15 is rather sparse

The speed with which manufacturers can update their smartphones to a newer version of Android is crucial for many users. While some are among the record holders and chase updates very quickly, others take significantly longer. At the same time, the South Korean giant Samsung has been among the leaders for many years (if we don’t count Pixels directly from Google), which updates its wide portfolio at an above-standard speed, while the length of support also does not have much competition. In the case of Android 15, which is supposed to come together with the One UI 7 superstructure, however, unexpected difficulties have arisen, and users are looking in vain for the time being when they will receive a flurry of news, at least within the beta version.

The first Motorola smartphones can taste Android 15

Another manufacturer took advantage of this situation, preparing the Android 15 update for its customers earlier than the company from Seoul. The speedster is Motorola, which gives first users the opportunity to taste the news in the latest version of the operating system as part of its beta program. This is a rather big surprise, because Motorola is not one of the fast ones, despite the fact that its superstructure is much more economical than that of Samsung. This time, however, the subsidiary of the Chinese Lenovo outdid itself.

Early adopters of the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion smartphone are already reporting that the device has offered them an update to Android 15 beta, at least according to GSMArena. The speed of the update arrival is probably related to the new policy, where Motorola started offering users up to 5 years of major updates for the Edge 50 series, while in the past it only offered three years of major updates. The Android 15 beta is 1.8GB in size on the Edge 50 Fusion and labeled V1UUI35H.6. According to reports from Reddit, some Edge 50 Pro users are also getting the option to update to the beta version.

Not all smartphones will receive the update

And who else can look forward to the Android 15 update among Motorola device owners? Some time ago, the YTechB server published a list of devices that it managed to obtain from the official website of Motorola. Although this list is not official, there is a high probability that its appearance corresponds to reality.

Edge series

  • Motorola Edge Plus 2023
  • Motorola Edge 2024
  • Motorola Edge 40 Pro
  • Motorola Edge 50
  • Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
  • Motorola Edge 50 Neo
  • Motorola Edge 50 Pro
  • Motorola Edge 50 Ultra

G series

  • Moto G Power 5G 2024
  • Moto G 5G 2024
  • Moto G Stylus 5G 2024
  • Moto G34 5G
  • Moto G35
  • Moto G45
  • Moto G55
  • Moto G75
  • Moto G85

The Razr series

  • Motorola Razr 2023 (Razr 40)
  • Motorola Razr Plus 2023 (Razr 40 Ultra)
  • Motorola Razr 2024 (Razr 50)
  • Motorola Razr Plus 2024 (Razr 50 Ultra)

Other

What is interesting about this list is the fact that it is missing a number of devices, such as Moto G models from 2023, Edge models also from last year or G series models from 2022. Perhaps the most surprising absence is the Moto G Play model, which saw the light world in January this year. However, how Motorola will ultimately approach updates is a question.

Motorola’s Surprise Move: Overtaking Samsung on the Android 15 Front

Well, it looks like we’ve got a classic case of the tortoise and the hare here, folks. In a move that would make even the slowest of snails raise an eyebrow, Motorola has managed to edge past Samsung in the race for Android 15—albeit by only offering a taste of it in beta. Who would have thought a company known for its budget-friendly phones would suddenly become the Usain Bolt of software updates? It’s like seeing your Aunt Edna suddenly do backflips at a family reunion; thoroughly unexpected!

What’s Cooking in the Android Kitchen?

Now, let’s get into the meat and potatoes of this delightful news. We’re not just talking about any update here; we’re talking Android 15, which is set to come with One UI 7. As a reminder, Samsung has had its fair share of updating woes lately, with many users tapping their fingers impatiently, staring at their screens like it’s 1999 and waiting for a dial-up connection. Meanwhile, Motorola swoops in like a superhero—bellies full of excitement and beta code. And it’s a bit shocking, really, given Motorola’s previous reputation of being about as quick as a dial-up modem in a power outage!

A little birdy—or perhaps it was just Twitter—has told us that early adopters of the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion are already receiving the Android 15 beta update. Yes, folks, it’s actually happening! It’s almost as if the phone gods have decided to throw us a bone. And at a heft of 1.8GB, this update is not just a trickle—it’s a full-on waterfall. Motorola’s really outdone itself this time, which is enough to make even their previous sluggish updates blush.

Who Gets to Join the Party?

Before we roll out the red carpet for all Motorola smartphone owners, let’s be real: not everyone gets to join this fancy update gala. While it’s such a thrill for those who own the Edge series, the rest of the Motorola family is left peeking in through the window… awkward. A leaked list, flying around faster than gossip at a family gathering, suggests some devices will indeed receive the mounds of Android goodness we’ve all been waiting for:

  • Edge Series: Yes, you’re in! If you have a Motorola Edge Plus 2023 or any of the Edge 50 models, you’re golden.
  • G Series: Well, it looks like the Moto G Power 5G 2024 is getting its moment in the sun too. Congratulations! You’ve won the software lottery.
  • Razr Series: Flip it real good! The Razr lineup isn’t left out either, showing that they still know how to be cutting-edge—even in a flip-phone world.

However, for those more budget-conscious models like the Moto G Play, well… let’s just say you might want to cuddle with your current version of Android for a bit longer.

So, What’s the Bottom Line?

In summary, Motorola is strutting its stuff, taking an unexpected lead while Samsung seems to have stumbled over its shoelaces. As users yearn for Android 15 with a sprinkle of One UI magic, Motorola’s move is reminiscent of that one friend who suddenly becomes a fitness guru after years of couch-sitting: it leaves everyone confused, yet intrigued.

So keep your software hungry eyes peeled because this update could be the best thing since sliced bread—if sliced bread were a smartphone OS! Now, excuse me while I go check my Twitter feed for another round of cafe gossip on who’s getting the next juicy update. Stay cheeky, tech lovers!
