[세종=뉴스핌] Reporter Shin Do-kyung = Samsung Display filed a trade secret infringement lawsuit once morest China’s BOE with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

According to the display industry on the 2nd, Samsung Display filed a complaint with the ITC on the 31st of last month (local time) once morest eight companies, including BOE and BOE’s subsidiaries, for infringement of trade secrets.

Samsung Display claimed in its complaint that BOE has been infringing on trade secrets regarding its OLED technology through Samsung Display’s partner Toptech since 2017. Circumstances were discovered that Chinese companies such as BOE were involved in the leak of Toptech’s trade secrets.

Trade secret infringement occurs when technology is maliciously stolen through partners and current and former executives and employees. This is different from the patent infringement lawsuit that Samsung Display is pursuing once morest BOE for five patents, including the diamond pixel of OLED panels, and the dispute between the two companies appears to be intensifying.

In March of this year, the Suwon High Court found 11 Toptech executives and employees guilty of leaking Samsung Display’s trade secrets.

Meanwhile, the ITC is expected to decide whether to initiate an investigation related to trade secret infringement as early as next month.
