Samsung confirms that hackers stole the source code for Galaxy smartphones

Samsung has confirmed that its servers have been hacked and some data has been stolen, including the source code for Galaxy family devices. This was reported by the agency with reference to the statement of the South Korean technology giant. Bloomberg.

Recall that the responsibility for hacking the internal network of Samsung earlier took over hacker group Lapsus$. Same grouping previously hacked NVIDIA servers, stealing regarding 1 TB of various data. As in the case of NVIDIA, hackers confirmed their statements regarding hacking Samsung screenshots of various filesstolen from the South Korean giant. The estimated amount of this data is regarding 200 GB. The list of stolen files contains the source code for Galaxy smartphone software, which is used to support the encryption and biometric system functions on the brand’s devices.

In its statement, Samsung did not deny or confirm who exactly hacked it, nor did it specify what data was stolen. The company only noted that among the stolen data there is no personal information regarding its employees and customers.

“According to our initial analysis, the hack appeared to be a leak of source code data related to the operation of Galaxy devices, but does not include personal data of our consumers or employees”— commented in Samsung.

The company promised to investigate and take measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
