Samsung announces the finalist projects for the 10th edition of Solve For Tomorrow Brasil, the company’s global corporate citizenship program. With general coordination by Cenpec, the initiative is known for encouraging students and teachers in the public school system to develop solutions to local problems through the STEM approach (acronym in English for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

With a total of six projects selected for the final stage of the program, the North East It is the most prominent region of the country in the 10th edition of the program, as has been happening in recent years. The Southeast is the second largest region in terms of number of finalist projects, with two teams in total. Furthermore, among the states, Maranhão stood out, with two finalist projects.

Sustainability is one of the most present themes among the finalist projects of the 10th edition of Solve For Tomorrow Brasil, which proves how the subject is gaining more and more relevance. Among the ten projects selected for the final stage of the program are initiatives focused on the production of biogas, agricultural bio-inputs and solid fuels, as well as recycling projects, ecological diapers and agriculture. Among the finalists, there are also projects focused on the health area, focusing on photoprotection with repellent action and hearing comfort for students with autism.

In the final stage, the finalist groups must produce a video to detail the idea of their respective projects. These contents will be published on the program’s official website when the Popular Jury votes are opened to the public, on November 16th. In this final stretch, students continue to receive technical mentoring to obtain support from Solve For Tomorrow experts, in order to improve their prototypes for the program’s final ceremony, which takes place on November 28th, the date on which the winners of the edition will be announced.

In its 10th edition, Solve For Tomorrow Brasil recorded a 28.4% increase in the number of registrations compared to the previous year. With a total of 2,348 projects, this is the largest edition of the program in terms of number of participants since 2014, when the initiative arrived in Brazil. The tenth Brazilian edition of Solve For Tomorrow also registered growth of 50.92% in the number of students registered, and 20.83% in the number of schools compared to the previous year.

“The 10th edition of Solve For Tomorrow Brasil is already historic. In addition to the increase in the number of registered projects, we were able to observe a genuine interest from schools across the country in participating in the program, with truly innovative and creative projects, which offer important solutions to society’s demands”, says Anna Karina Pinto, Director of Marketing Samsung Brazil Corporate. “For us at Samsung, this initiative is an important tool to introduce these young students to the field of research and science, as well as helping them develop their skills inside and outside the classroom. This is one of Solve For Tomorrow’s objectives in accordance with our global vision of Social Responsibility: ‘Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People’”.

“Over these ten years, the Solve for Tomorrow Brasil Program has reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to improving the quality of Brazilian public education”, says Beatriz Cortese, Executive Director of Cenpec. “In this 10th edition, it is worth highlighting the youth leadership dedicated to projects that address current and urgent issues, such as the environment and sustainability”.

The Brazilian edition of Solve For Tomorrow has a network of partners, such as the representation in Brazil of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO in Brazil), the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture in Brazil (OEI), in addition to the support of the National Council of Education Secretaries (Consed) and the general coordination of Cenpec.
