After the successful experience of the rugged device Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition, according to Samsung, which points out high adherence of DOD (Department of Defense) officials in all branches of service in the US, the South Korean company announced that the TE versions will also arrive for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro.

The difference in smartphones is that they feature special applications for operators, such as the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) and the Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit (BATDOK). ATAK offers operators a enhanced real-time situational awarenesswhile BATDOK collects and distributes user service information in real time.

Both Tactical Edition phones also meet US military security requirements and are protected by Samsung Knox and Knox Dual Data at Rest (DualDAR), which meets NSA requirements for protecting sensitive data. Samsung DeX also plays a key role for these Tactical Edition phones as the on-device desktop platform allows military law enforcement units to conduct in-vehicle operations without the need for a laptop mounted.

Both come with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The Galaxy S23 TE offers Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection and Aluminum Armor, and is packaged in a rugged military-grade case that can be mounted on the chest or worn on the forearm. In the case of XCover 6 Pro TE, it is MIL-STD-810H compliant, resistant to drops and high temperatures.

The company claims that they should be released by the end of the semester.
